about the name, Katsí

Katsí is the moon. she hovers over the night sky with her sister, Atabey, the supreme Goddess of the Taino people. Like my ancestors, I feel her flow in the sky, the tides, the sacred cycles of my womb. She connects me to my creativity, my people, my land. I met Katsí in a book of puerto rican folktales. I choose to bring her name forward in my art as I continue to center my decolonization journey.
